Thursday, 13th February 2020 at 2.30 p.m: Philip Stott, ‘John Singer Sargent at Ightham Mote’. Philip Stott is a new lecturer to us who will talk about the prolific artist, John Singer Sargent, and his paintings and passions of that time. Singer Sargent visited Ightham Mote in the late nineteenth century.
Thursday, 12th March at 2.30 p.m: Heather Woodward, ‘Sir Winston Churchill of Chartwell’. The welcome return of Heather Woodward who will talk about the great man at home.
Thursday, 2nd April 2020 at 7.30 p.m: Ian Rumley Dawson, ‘The Wildlife of Scotland’s Western Isles’. Our wonderful wildlife photographer returns to show some of the most spectacular islands in the whole of the British Isles and tell us the sad story of St. Kilda.
Thursday, 14th May 2020 at 7.30 p.m: Geoff Hutchinson, ‘Kipling’. Geoff Hutchinson (Mr Kipling) will talk to you about his life and verse.
Thursday, 11th June 2020 at 7.30 p.m: Dr. Clive Nuttman, ‘Madagascar, Enchanted Isle’. Dr. Clive Nuttman, a new speaker to us who is an Environmental Biologist, will talk about this extraordinary Island, its geography, history and its people.
Thursday, 9th July 2020 at 7.30pm: Melanie Gibson Barton, ‘Belgian Royal Family – Murder, Madness and Mayhem’. Melanie Gibson Barton is a new speaker to us, who will tell us about this dysfunctional Royal Family that has only been in existence since 1830.
Thursday, 13th August 2020 at 7.30pm: Peter Hartley, ‘A Royal Interlude’. A new speaker to us with forty-six years service in the Royal Household will talk about the traditions of the Royal Maundy, and other snippets from his life in service.
Thursday, 10th September 2020 at 7.30pm: Fred Walker, ‘The Shipyards of Smallhythe’. Welcome back to our own Fred Walker who will tell how these shipwrights were the builders for the great ships of the Mediaeval Navy.
Thursday, 8th October 2020 at 7.30pm: Dave Clarke, ‘A Walk Around St. Leonards on Sea’. Our speaker will take us through the back lanes and reveal a dream to build a New Town.
