A268 OPEN but restricted to a single lane
Road diversions/closure for replacement of Traffic Lights at Hawkhurst. The closure of Hawkhurst’s crossroads, where two A-roads intersect is set to divert more traffic through Goudhurst and Tenterden. This is a three-month project to install a new sensor-based traffic light system to improve traffic flow. Hundreds of lorries pass through Hawkhurst crossroads daily. Many coming from the north will be redirected through Goudhurst towards the A21 or via Biddenden to reach the A28. Traffic approaching from the south on the A21 will be diverted through Flimwell via the A268 to access Hawkhurst. Throughout the project, the A268 High Street (Rye Road) will remain open but restricted to a single lane with temporary traffic lights. More information

Ashford Road will be closed on Sunday 22 June (listed on the notice as from 7am) "Kent County Council gives notice that Ashford Road, Tenterden will be closed to through traffic, on or after 22nd June 2025 for up to 1 day. The road will be closed at No.44 up to roundabout with Beacon Oak Road. The alternative route is via: A28 Ashford Road, Beacon Oak Road, East Cross, A28 High Street, A28 West Cross, A28 Rolvenden Road, Cranbrook Road, Tenterden Road, Benenden Road, A262 Biddenden Road and A28 Ashford Road. This closure is necessary to enable carriageway repairs to be carried out by Kent County Council" (permanent repair to mark carriageway areas and refresh centre lines after patching has been completed). Access for local residents - normally there is full access to your house but you might have to wait a short while until it is safe to go through guided by the operatives on site
