Napoleonic Re-enactment Weekend Returns to Hole Park in Rolvenden, Kent
Bringing History to Life at Hole Park on 25 and 26 September 2021

Preparations are advanced for the return to Hole Park Office of the Napoleonic Association of Great Britain where they will be enjoying a Napoleonic Battle re-enactment over the weekend 25-26 September.

Amongst the participants of infantry and artillery depicting British French units of the time, complete with camp followers and an authentic canvas camp there will be a patricianly large turnout of up to 20 cavalry horses present.

The riders and their horses dress in authentic uniforms of the period depicting French Chasseur and Lancers who will engage in mock battle against British Hussars and Dragoons. The sound of the drumming horse feet as they charge towards each other would have made many a soldier of their day fear for the clash of titans.

The horses that will perform on the day have undergone very specific training to make them immune to the sound of battle that goes on around them; the crash of guns and bang of muskets. The same horses and riders frequently appear during film and TV production as extras because these trained wonderful animals are now quite rare.

Visitors can witness one of the most colourful periods of history as the Napoleonic Association of Great Britain recreates the lives of soldiers, including some on horseback, during the Napoleonic Wars.

Watch exciting battle re-enactments with cannon fire and talk to the actors as you walk through the living history encampments.

This is a wonderful way to experience history at a time when Europe was in the grip of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon himself, in the person of renowned look-alike John Horwood, will appear on both days to lead skirmishes and re-enact scenes from this key period leading to the Battle of Waterloo, over 200 years ago.

As well as thrilling demonstrations of Cavalry Arms Skills, Drills, Artillery Displays, Parades and Skirmishes look out for the beautifully dressed regency ladies, who will be bringing a touch of Jane Eyre to Hole Park.

Included in the admission ticket the Napoleonic Re-enactment Weekend will be entry into the award-winning Hole Park Gardens. The Coach House Tea Room will also be open during the event.

Admission to Napoleonic Re-enactment Weekend including entry into the gardens: £9 for adults and £1 for children age 5 to 16.

Opening times: During the event the gardens will also be open from 10am to 6pm.
