How was the pandemic for you? Local charity reflects on the remarkable shared experiences that boosted well-being.
Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh (CARM), a charity set up to reduce social isolation, is holding a series of art exhibitions entitled Remembering Lockdown: Creative Reflections.
During the pandemic, so many people experienced loneliness and isolation for long periods. CARM staff swung into action to provide much needed regular contact to lonely older people. CARM’s many volunteers and clients have been kept supported and entertained throughout the pandemic with newsletters and suggestions for creative outlets, whether that be anecdotal reminiscences, making art or receiving Happy Post from local school children.
The Art Exhibition is the culmination of the many artistic endeavours shared with us, including paintings, drawings, photography, woodwork, needlework and written testimonies, to name but a few. Children have also played their part, submitting Happy Post with cheery messages which was then passed on to our clients. They also contributed My World, which is an insightful representation of the lockdown and restrictions from their vantage point.
CARM looks forward to sharing this fantastic work with you.
