Set in 100 beautiful acres of Kent countryside, the Rare Breeds Centre is the perfect family day out — whatever the season! Meet friendly farm animals, explore wide open spaces, and enjoy a fun-filled mix of indoor and outdoor attractions. From pigs and ponies to goats, geese and donkeys, there’s something for every animal lover to enjoy. This much-loved farm attraction offers a great day of adventure, learning and laughter for all ages.
Explore, Play and Discover
There’s so much to see and do across the farm. Little ones can get up close to the animals in the Children’s Barn, meet rare breeds, watch pig racing, or flutter through the Butterfly Tunnel. Outdoor explorers will love the adventure play parks, hill fort, zip wire assault course, and tube maze — while indoors, there’s soft play for rainy days and storytelling sessions every Wednesday. Take a trailer ride around the farm or stretch your legs with a woodland walk through the scenic countryside.
Events and Seasonal Fun
Throughout the year, the Rare Breeds Centre hosts an exciting calendar of special events to suit all ages. From Spring Lambing and Summer Shows to the popular Halloween Spooktacular and magical Christmas experiences, there’s always something new to look forward to. Seasonal trails, family activities, themed weekends and holiday fun days keep the farm buzzing with life all year round — so no two visits are ever quite the same!
Facilities and Food
After all the excitement, enjoy a hearty meal or a homemade treat at the Granary Restaurant, and don’t forget to stop by the Gift Shop or Plant Shop before you leave. There’s free parking, accessible toilets, and plenty of space for picnics. The Rare Breeds Centre is open all year — seven days a week in summer (31 March – 31 October, 10am–5pm) and Wednesday to Sunday in winter (1 November – 30 March, 10am–4:30pm), with extra opening days during school holidays.
Supporting a Wonderful Cause
The Rare Breeds Centre is owned and operated by the Canterbury Oast Trust (COT), Registered Charity No. 291661. As well as being a visitor attraction, the farm provides training and life skills opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, helping them gain confidence and independence through hands-on experience in farming, catering, conservation and customer service.
