Cafe Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to listen to a lecture exploring the latest ideas in science and technology.
Our meetings are every couple of months starting at 7pm, very informal but a comprehensible talk on a scientific or technical subject with questions welcome. There are no fees, no commitments. Hold/cold/alcoholic drinks and snacks are available to purchase if you wish.

How DOES your Computer Work?
1: Scale and Logic
The first in an occasional series looking at what actually goes on inside all those digital, computer driven devices that you don't even know you are using! If you watch TV, drive a car, use a phone, a digital watch, washing machine or even certain lightbulbs, then you are using a computer like it or not! This informal talk and discussion will take a very brief look at the development of modern digital devices and then explore how they work at the most fundamental level - there will be toys to play with!
