Basket Making for Beginners | Kench Hill
Full Day Courses AND Weekend Courses
Courses by Crafty Basketry

Basket Making for Beginners - Full Day Course
Dates 19 Sept, 29 Sept, 10 Oct, 17 Oct, 29 Oct, 1 Nov, 4 Nov
These courses are for absolute beginners and for people who've made a basket or two. All materials, use of tools (if you don't like using your own) and teas, coffees and cakes are included. I ask people to bring lunch. There will be fruit for when we get peckish. I try to organise the workshops in rural locations; on farms for instance, as then we have the full benefit of nature around us to fully reconnect and rewild. Full-day courses are £95. You will get to finish your basket and take it home with you. Examples of what you could make are a fruit bowl, bread basket, or tray with two handles, just to give you an idea of size. It's a great day to spend with friends, but also really great to share with like-minded people you've not met before. Basket weaving is very therapeutic, as you are using head, heart and hands, bringing body and mind back in sync.

Basket Making for Beginners - Weekend Course
Sat-Sun 25-26 September, 9.30am-4.30pm
Other dates: 27-28 Nov
Just like the full day courses, these courses are for absolute beginners and for people who've made a basket or two. All materials, use of tools (if you don't like using your own) and teas, coffees and cakes are included. I normally ask people to bring lunch, but at Kench Hill Centre a hearty lunch can be provided upon request a week before the event. There will be fruit for when we get peckish.

I try to organise the courses in rural locations; on farms for instance, as then we have the full benefit of nature around us to fully reconnect and rewild. During this weekend, you can take it all in at your leisure, take your time, really get into it and unwind. You’ll be able to tackle a bigger project. Weekend courses are £190. You will get to finish your basket and take it home with you. Examples of what you could make at a weekend course are a shopping basket, bigger planter, tool basket, toy basket with integrated handles on either side, or you could make two baskets; one each day, if you’re a little more advanced. It's a fantastic day to spend with friends, but also really great to share with like-minded people you've not met before. Basket weaving is very therapeutic, as you are using head, heart and hands, bringing body and mind back in sync. Working in a group allows you to share experiences, bounce off ideas; a great way to build new friendships.

When signing up, you will be asked to take part in a survey to get an idea of how you'd like your course to look and/or what you expect from the course, to make sure I'm still relevant
