We normally meet on the last Friday of each month in Woodchurch Memorial Hall at 7.30pm unless otherwise indicated. Bring your telescope/binoculars if the weather is clear.  Our meetings are open to all ages, but children under 16 must be accompanied.
 
Friday 29th April 2022, 7:30pm Woodchurch Memorial Hall: "Earth vs The Universe!" The universe can be an unfriendly place - but just how unfriendly? Disaster movies about threats from space have been popular for decades, but how realistic are they? Come along and find out from Aimee Babbs and Zoe Thompson! A fun and lighthearted talk which will combine science, technology and popular entertainment. Please note this will also be the meeting where we hold our AGM.As always there will be a raffle, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. Free for members, £2 for guests. 
 
Friday 27th May 2022: The Light Fantastic: an Introduction to Spectroscopy – Steve Jackson looks at how spectroscopy can be used to determine the composition of a star’s elements through their light emissions. Steve will also demonstrate how to make a basic spectroscope and use it to identify the elements in our Sun and the galaxy’s brightest objects for yourselves! Please note, this meeting will be held at Singleton Village Hall instead of our usual Woodchurch venue.
