Woodchurch Driving Group is a local, registered self-funding charity providing carriage driving experience for adults with a range of disabilities. Our governing body is the Riding for the Disabled Association Incorporating Carriage Driving and we meet at Woodchurch twice a week on a Monday and a Wednesday between April and October.
Our aim is to enable people with disabilities, including those who are wheelchair dependent, the opportunity to experience and learn new skills they previously thought closed to them. Carriage driving is fun and therapeutic, and has the ability to instill a sense of purpose, widen social interaction and friendships.
Activities include driving around the fields or in the arena, grooming the ponies, cleaning tack, and participating in annual fun days and competitions. Each driver is accompanied by a qualified RDA coach and supported by a number of dedicated volunteers
