What’s FREE at the 25th Tenterden Folk Festival
Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th October 2017
There are over 50 events spread over four full days in around 12 venues, featuring over 50 acts and 40 Morris sides and dance display teams at the 25th Tenterden Folk Festival and many of the events are FREE.  See here for more information on the Tenterden Folk Festival 2017

The free events start at 11.30am on Thursday with a song and music session lead by John and Di Cullen and friends in the bar of the William Caxton.  This is followed at 4pm by Afternoon Tea and Cakes at one of our new venues, the Secret Pantry in the High Street with Derek Gifford entertaining you with traditional folk songs.

This pattern of free events expands on Friday with song and music sessions at lunch time and evening in The White Lion, The William Caxton and The Woolpack, guests spots in both Secret Pantry and Indulgence and a band showcase in the Vine Inn.

This pattern continues on Saturday and Sunday plus free events in the streets around the town centre and in the marquees on the Recreation Ground.  The marquees are the venues for the craft fair, music stalls, real ale bar and other interesting stalls.  The dance stage will see performances by Morris dancers, Appalachian dancers, Slovakian dancers and by 4 x 4 Bhangra dancers.  The free music stage will feature music from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and to 5.00 p.m. on Sunday.  On Sunday there will also be performances from Snail Tales Story Telling aimed at families, children and adults.  The town will also throng with hundreds of dancers and street entertainers and there will be the popular procession at 3pm on Saturday.  The last free event will be the song and music session in the William Caxton on Sunday evening.

In addition to this from Thursday to Sunday there are also more formal events for which you can buy tickets and these include concerts, folk clubs, workshops, meet the guest sessions, barn dance and various special events.

Details of all these events can be found in the FREE programme that is available to pick up in many places around Tenterden, Ashford, Maidstone and at folk clubs across Kent.

Tickets are available direct from Tenterden Folk Festival, on line or from local outlets including The Gateway Plus in Ashford and Advantec IT at the Fairings in Tenterden.
