2016-2021 Good Cause
Over the past 5 years Tenterden Rotary Club has supported the Tenterden Memory Cafe, and the Musical Memories group, both of which meet weekly. Attendance is free with people making voluntary donations. The Café has also had generous funding from legacies, local churches, Council donations and from The Wealden Business Group. All Rotarians are very welcome to come to meetings, just once or regularly.
Memory Cafe: The Café is for those living with Dementia but also importantly is a supportive venue for partners, carers and those who want to help learn more about the condition and how they can best support friends and family. Drinks and cakes are provided and often speakers, entertainment and quizzes. There are also days out, a film club and even a five day holiday each year. The Club has links with the primary schools, visiting to help with art work and Christmas tree decoration. Most people are still living at home but some also attend from their care homes with staff or family.
Musical Memories: meet every Tuesday morning. Singing is a well-recognised therapy for those with memory loss
