EAST KENT NOVEMBER UPDATE
Tuesday, 27 November, 2018
East Kent NHS listening events Thank you to everyone who has attended our latest round of listening events. We have had a great turn out and discussion at all the events so far. If you missed them, you can view the presentation on our website, www.kentandmedway.nhs.uk/eastkent and listen to audio recordings of all the events here. You can also understand more about our reasons for change and what our ambition is, by watching this short film.
Additional listening events
In response to feedback, we are adding two more events on our east Kent borders in Faversham and Tenterden. Places can be booked via http://kentandmedwaynhs.eventbrite.com/
Tenterden: Monday, 10 December, at London Beach Country Hotel, Ashford Road, Tenterden TN30 6HX from 6.30 to 9.30pm (registration from 6.15pm)
Faversham: Wednesday, 12 December, at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Abbey Place, Faversham ME13 7BQ from 6.45 to 9.45pm (registration from 6.30pm).
Street surveys and focus groups are also taking place across the county. There will be many more opportunities to hear about the proposals and give your views as part of a full public consultation later in 2019.

  • Option 1 involves reorganising some specialist services across each of the three hospital sites and using the William Harvey Hospital (Ashford), Kent & Canterbury Hospital (Canterbury) and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (Margate) in different ways. This would mean consolidating specialist services on one site at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, with more day-to-day hospital services provided at Canterbury and Margate.

  • Option 2 was added to the medium list in October 2017 following an offer by a local developer to build the shell of a new hospital in Canterbury as part of a development of 2,000 new homes and gift it to the NHS. It would involve changes at all three sites, including moving some current services provided at the William Harvey and QEQM hospitals to the Kent and Canterbury site.
