Rolvenden Lawn Tennis Club
Long-time residents of Rolvenden will know that there has been a tennis club in the norner of the playing field for many years. Starting as one grass court and officially titled Rolvenden Lawn Tennis Club, it progressed to one hard court and then two, followed by what is known as "The Pavilion". Nothing quite so grand actually, but a very useful little place for storage ad shelter.
Newer folk in the village may sometime pass and be curious to know how you can get to play there. Is it a 'private' club, who runs it, how much does it cost, etc. The Club is an independent organisation, granted use of the land it occupies by a Village Trust, at a very reasonable annual rent, and managed by a committee of members. Because of the support from the Trust, annual memberships are very good value compared with many other clubs. Annual fees are: Single £55, Family £110 and Junior £10.
There is a system for members to book times when they would like to play, plus there are general club sessions for adults on various days of the week - played on a mixing in basis and all welcome. We have two 'Fun Days' a year for adults, with a not too demanding tennis tourmament and a BBQ. There is coaching available for junior members - arranged directly with the coach, but using the club courts.
Basically we are a friendly and welcoming club, and if you would like more information and details on how to join, please contact Trevor Lodge on 01580 240957 or use the "contact" button above.
We play all year round
