PROPOSED EXTENSION
To St Mildred’s Church
The proposed scheme represents the culmination of 12 years of work by St Mildred Church Transformation Group. It marks the first major alteration to the Church since the construction of the Tower around 1461.
The primary objective of this project is to establish a more adaptable worship environment while enhancing the interior and expanding infrastructure to facilitate a diverse range of community activities. This initiative aims to open up the Church for broader community use, equipped with modern amenities such as toilets and a kitchen.
Additionally, the proposal includes the establishment of a Benefice Office to serve nine parishes - a crucial facility presently absent. A designated green room will offer storage and additional meeting space and other functioning space for various activities and functions.
Plans for the extension and external lighting will soon be submitted to Ashford Borough Council, followed by the application for faculty (akin to listed building consent). The project has received invaluable support from the Tenterden-based team of Price Whitehead
