Golden Square c.1920, known in its early days as New Town. On the right is the New Town Stores with the proprietor, Mr "Budgie" Burch, standing in the doorway in a spotless white apron. The business was later taken over by his son, Allen, and closed about 1960. Today it is a private residence

c. 1906, the house on the right is Plough Cottage, formerly The Plough Inn which was run by Mr A Chacksfield. The Plough Inn closed in 1918
