From Ships to Sheep, a book about Smallhythe

500 years ago, Smallhythe was a thriving port and one of the most important centres of shipbuilding in England. Today, the community is small and almost all trace of its former importance has faded away. This book brings the remarkable story of Smallhythe back to life. It also covers aspects of local involvement in the federation of the Cinque Ports as well as the history of the church of St John the Baptist and of Smallhythe Place, both dating from the period of re-building immediately after Smallhythe was destroyed by fire in 1515.

Copies of the book are available from Webb's of Tenterden, Webb's Ironmongery Shop, Waterstones (Tenterden), Tenterden Museum, Smallhythe Place and Rye Museum.
