Mr Charles Bourne took over 21 High Street in 1938 and erected a new garage at the rear. He had outgrown his premises at the rear of the Woolpack. His son in law Robert Cruttenden assumed control of the business in 1946 and obtained the whole building when he purchased No.19 in 1955. In due course it was altered to make one large car showroom at the front. It was purchased first by Caffyns, then by Hunt Grange Motors in 1981, and finally occupied by Laura Ashley in 1983... the story continues
