Old Dairy Brewery - Snow Top – wins ‘Silver’ - Supreme CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain

We are delighted to announce that our Snow Top has won ‘Silver’, Supreme CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain at the Great British Beer Festival, which is being held this week at Olympia in London.

One of our many seasonal brews, this is a rich dark beer that we have traditionally brewed through the Winter to warm the cockles! It is a hearty 6% ABV with flavour notes of comfort foods like fruitcake and marmalade. The challenger and Bramling cross hops are grown just a mile away from the brewery so no food miles to speak of. It has a deeply satisfying full body that sits perfectly with the balance of flavours to make this a truly satisfying beer.

The brewery

We started in 2009 in an old milking parlour (hence the name) we had a 5 barrel kit and rapidly expanded the number of vessels to cope with demand. It was soon realised that we needed a bigger site and indeed brew kit. So 2 years ago we made the move to our current home just a couple of miles from where we started in a couple of world war 2 Nissen huts. We have expanded to a 30 barrel kit and already this is looking like we are outgrowing it. Further investment has been made in some shiny new FV’s which we are excitedly awaiting delivery of in the next few weeks.

Our head brewer Glenn has continued to improve the beers while maintaining consistency to ensure that every pint is as good or better than the last. This is very important to us and something that our customers appreciate and look for in a beer. Its not always easy to achieve but this is a core value that we have and sets us apart from the crowd.

We feel we are poised for the next stage in our development, bring on the future!
