Smarden Christmas Tree Festival 2017
St Michaels Church Smarden
8-10 December 2017
Throughout the village of Smarden, members of various groups and societies are secretly preparing their decorations for the forthcoming biennial Christmas tree festival. The venue for this keenly contested competition is St Michaels Church. Over 30 trees, supplied by Hole Park, Rolvenden, will fill the church, from Friday 8 December until Sunday 10 December. Visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favourite tree. The winner of the most votes will be announced on Sunday evening, after the village Carol Service. Come along this year, from 11am until 6pm to see what tasteful, or bizarre, trees are entered into the competition.
In return for £1 donation, you can place a star on the Memory Tree to commemorate a loved one. Donations from this tree will go to the charity 'PORCHLIGHT'.
Christmas Craft Stalls, Christmas Produce, Mulled Wine and other Refreshments are all planned. You may even hear some live music from local musicians.
On the Saturday evening we are planning a concert, to take place from 6pm when the Festival closes. All in all, a very special way to start the Christmas Season.
