St Mary the Virgin Ebony Church is located roughly halfway between Tenterden & Appledore in Kent. The church originally built by Saxons on an island called Chapel Bank in the River Rother estuary to serve the nearby port of Smallhythe. Over the centuries the river’s course was altered and the island became part of the mainland and the port moved to the coast. After lightning and fire the remains of the church were moved by the Victorians and restored.
Refreshments and parking available Tenterden Garden Centre (opposite the Church) will be open each day for light refreshments and home cooked lunches. Toilet facilities also available at the Garden Centre.
