My How We've Grown
Starting as a small music event in 2007 to mark the Tour de France coming through the town, we have grown into a must-see 3 day festival that everyone wants to be part of. And we're looking pretty good - if we say so ourselves...
WHERE: Recreation Ground, Tenterden, Kent
WHEN: Friday 1st July, 6pm-10pm
Saturday: 2nd July, 10am-9pm
Sunday: 3rd July, 10am-6pm
This year's festival is chock-ful of birthday treats
We always work hard to bring a good mix of acts we know everyone loves - alongside new musicians that will bring something special and that little bit different - right to your doorstep. So this year, on Friday night we kick off with the passion and energy of Canterbury-based pop punk band The Alchemy, followed by the folk genius of Gentlemen of Few and from Essex - the HUGE talent of the much-talked about new band Youth Club
On Saturday you can get your dancing shoes on - as local dance groups from Tenterden, Rye and the surrounding villages get us all moving on main stage. Then some sharp local talent takes over in the form of Elliot Rivv, Phoebe Warden and Fred Clark who bring us to a set from one of our favourite group of musicians, The Van Susans. We then have a real treat in store with the Marie White Band from Hastings rocking the festival into our massive headline party act, Salut, an amazing, energetic eight piece band who will have everyone on their feet.
On Sunday we look forward to the big, BIG voice of Sam Calver and his band, followed by Maidstone's finest The Soundcasters to get the crowd jumping and properly help us celebrate our 10th birthday...
All of this along with local heroes we know everyone loves - Men Without Hens, The Tuesdays, The Rubies, Cranbrook Brass Band, The Ashford Rock Choir and a range of school and club acts - all hosted by our compere and co-organiser BBC Radio Kent's Adam Dowling.
There is just nowhere else to be
With 3 stages (Main, Umbrella & Acoustic), 2 Bars (both undercover), a giant dancing robot called Predatron, street theatre including stilt walkers and a Mad Hatter's tea Party, our Toddertainment free activity tent, shopping and a mind-boggling array of delicious food stalls - where else could you get this amount of entertainment, activities and artisan catering without a hefty entrance fee?
Sponsored by Old Dairy Brewery, who have brewed a special Tentertainment Summer Beer for us, Chapel Down Vineyard and local Accountants Gibbons Mannington Phipps. Please remember that the festival is a not for profit event, run entirely by volunteers. All food and drink bought at the festival goes directly into staging next year's weekend. So PLEASE donate over the weekend - and BUY YOUR FOOD and DRINK at the festival. It's the only way we can keep staging the event and keep it un-ticketed.
Buy our beer - fund next year....
PLUS: Don't miss the official Tentertainment tent with band merchandise and festival must-haves. It's local, it's live, it's wearther-proof. See you there...
