St Mildred's Church in Tenterden dates from the 12th century and is Grade 1 listed. The imposing tower which is 130 feet in height, dominates the town's skyline, and was constructed in 1461. The tower is built of Bethersden Marble, a locally quarried Limestone containing many thousands of brightly coloured shells. The church is open to visitors every day during daylight hours.
