Old Dairy Brewery introduces Cattle Shed Brew Co. Craft Beer range
The multi-award winning Old Dairy Brewery is proud to announce the launch of Cattle Shed, a new craft beer brand to complement its existing range of traditional Old Dairy Brewery branded beers.
With quirkier branding and a distinctive edgy style, the new Cattle Shed range showcases the talents of two recently recruited brewers from the US, who have worked tirelessly at the Tenterden brewery to perfect three exciting new beers, each with an individual twist. Available in keg as well as 330ml bottles and cans, the new beers are:
• Working Class Hero – 4.5% Farmhouse Saison
• Foreshank Redemption – 5.5% American Pale Ale
• Raging Bull – 9.0% Double IPA
Old Dairy’s new Head Brewer, Wes Lynch, is an alumni of Heriot Watt University and has years of experience brewing American craft beers. He said: “As well as brewing great English award winning beers for Old Dairy, it’s fantastic to have been let loose to create some outstanding new craft beers for the Cattle Shed Brew Co. I am delighted with our first three beers – a fabulous English take on a farmhouse saison, a classic American Pale Ale brewed in the true American way and a giant Double IPA with an Anglo-American twist – and we have many more amazing beers ready to go.”
John Roberts, Chairman of the Old Dairy Brewery, added: “This is a significant development for our brewery and follows an array of awards that we are extremely proud of for our traditional Old Dairy range which we will continue to brew and develop. The new Cattle Shed beers are a perfect addition to our line-up and we expect these exciting new beer styles to sell particularly well in craft beer centric pubs and bars as well bottle shops.”
Sean Calnan, Old Dairy’s General Manager is delighted with his newly expanded team: “Wes and his assistant brewer, Paul Sipas, have come to us with outstanding credentials in craft beer brewing and have lots of ideas for new and exciting beer styles for Cattle Shed Brew Co. You can expect to see some truly excellent new beers in this range in the coming months – watch this space!”

Cattle Shed Brand Details/Tasting notes
Working Class Hero
A continental Saison beer for the English palate. We have used English malt and hops but kept it traditional with the Bell Saison yeast to give it the buttery characteristics and pear drop/ bubblegum aroma you would expect from a Belgium beer.
Very refreshing, and at 4.5% abv very drinkable.
A classic American pale ale. Forget the predictable over hopped “English take” on an APA, this is brewed by someone in the know! Using the American ale malt and a combination of three American hops. Just the right balance of hop and malt flavour as the beer was always intended. A crisp clean taste that allows the piney flavour with a hint of candy to come through. The aroma is of tropical fruit as you would expect but at a more acceptable level. 5.5% abv
Double IPA (DIPA). This beer has been inspired by our Anglo-American connections. A huge malt base to give the strength and a solid body to the beer and not have the overpowering alcohol notes often found in DIPA’s. We have balanced this with both American hops and a very rare English hop grown just a mile from our brewery. This give it notes of lemon and tangerine with a hint of pepper in both flavour and aroma. At 9% abv, this one will floor you so show it some respect!
